Irakoze Umutesi Raissa is a bright and determined 9-year-old girl in Primary 4, but her young life is overshadowed by the struggles of poverty. Raissa’s family faces tremendous financial hardships, making it nearly impossible to afford the school fees that would allow her to continue her education. Despite her love for learning and her dreams of a better future, Raissa faces the daily fear of being sent home from school, her hopes slipping away as the weight of her family’s poverty bears down on her young shoulders. Raissa’s situation is truly heartbreaking. The lack of consistent meals has left her malnourished, affecting both her health and her ability to concentrate in class. Her family is doing everything they can, but without adequate resources, they are unable to provide Raissa with the basic necessities every child deserves.
